  • The Parable of Talents…

The Parable of Talents…   Introduction: 1.      Christian stewardship is one of the most important subjects of the Christians life as a disciple. What is a Christian? A Christian is someone who has given their own life over to Jesus to let Him rule their heart and mind. What is a Steward? A Steward is someone who oversees someone else’s property or business. 2.      So, a Christian Steward is someone who has given himself or herself through the Gospel of Christ and are now overseeing their Lord’s business and affairs. In this series I have spoken on the subjects of being a good steward of time, influence, of our mind, and what a steward is in general. There are many aspects of being a steward and in today’s lesson we are going to look at the parable of talents. 3.      We are not our own and are bought with a price. When a sinner comes to Jesus through the Gospel, they give themselves and everything they have over to Jesus to have and rule. By giving all we receive the best of gifts that being salvation and eternal life. 4.      Each of us has gifts or abilities that we can use to increase our Lord’s kingdom. Now let us examine this parable and see what we can learn from it.   I.                    The Master A.    Going away 1.      The master of the slaves goes away to another country. a.       Our Lord has gone into Heaven and from there he reigns until he comes back. b.      There is no reason given as to why the master went away to another country. c.       He did, however, entrust his servants to handle his business while he was gone. d.      He left them unsupervised, showing trust and confidence in them to be loyal and true to him. 2.      He owned the servants. a.       He was not hiring someone to handle his business. He was in fact the owner of these people. b.      This was a time when slaves and servants were common, and this is not the case today. c.       These servants or slaves could have been sold like Joseph was or they could have given themselves freely to their master. We today have to give ourselves freely to the Lord. B.     He Gave Gifts 1.      Each received according as the master sees fit. a.       It was the master who obviously knew the servants well enough to know what they were capable of accomplishing. b.      The Lord is omniscience or knows everything. He knows what we can handle and what we cannot. He is not like our supervisors or bosses of today that may give us tasks that we are not able to perform. c.       None was left empty handed everyone of these servants received some talent. 2.      What is a talent? a.       The word talent in today’s term means ability. b.      The word used in Jesus’ day was that of weight. c.       There are two forms of weight measure, one called Troy, which has 12 ounces in a pound and the one that we use today, which is based on 16 ounces in a pound. d.      So, the talent in a troy system was about 120 pounds of silver or possibly gold. e.       The talent in our system today is about 96 pounds of silver or gold. 3.      They each had different abilities. a.       Each one received differing amounts of money. b.      This implies that one could better manage what the master gave than the other. c.       It also implies the fairness and justness of the master. He did not give them something they could not handle. He considered each individually and gave according to each one’s ability. C.     He called their accounts in 1.      He went away, in the immediate context this parable falls in the middle of Jesus teaching on the suddenness of the day of Judgement. It falls between a parable of preparation, the ten virgins and the judgement scene. a.       Jesus was drawing a difference between being prepared to enter and using our time for Him. b.      Each of us has the choice of doing something for God or doing nothing. 2.      The master was a long time in coming. a.       The master did not tell the servants when he would return. b.      He was not required to inform them but trusted them to do what was right by Him. c.       It was a long time before the master returned, this shows the trust of the master in his servants, because he did not come and supervise them every second he was gone. He left it in their own hands thinking they would do him right. 3.      His Return a.       His return was sudden or unannounced. He did not call to say I would come in three months. b.      He expected his money to be increased. He wanted some fruit from what he had given. c.       He placed responsibility on each individual. He did not look at the overall outcome but at each individual. d.      He judged each one properly with correct judgement. II.                 The Faithful Servants A.    They Belonged to the Master 1.      They were not their own. a.       1 Cor 6:20, “Ye are bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body and spirit which are God’s.” b.      We are not are own we have given ourselves over to follow the will of our master Jesus. c.       They had either been bought and paid for by freely offering themselves as we do today, or they had been sold into slavery. We are the ones who freely give ourselves to the Lord. 2.      They were trusted to manage without supervision. a.       This implies that they had enough sense or knowledge to please their master. b.      The master gave them enough freedom to do as they wished, only to follow his will as they went about furthering the kingdom of their Lord or Master. B.     The Rewards of Faithfulness 1.      The Ten Talent Man a.       The 10-talent man had a whole lot of silver and gold given to him. b.      He had anywhere between 960 pounds to 1200 pounds of money given to him. c.       You and I know that if our master gave us 1000 pounds of silver or gold, we will be held responsible for what happens to that money. d.      He used it faithfully. He went and invested it somehow in some way and by his efforts he doubled the Lord’s money. 2.      The 4 Talent Man a.       The 4-talent man also had a whole lot of money entrusted to him. b.      The estimated amount is between 480 to 600 pounds of silver or gold. c.       He knew too that he would hold accountable for that which he had received. d.      He also took what he was given and began to further the kingdom of the Master. 3.      Each faithful received a reward for their efforts. a.       The servants were not left empty handed for their work or efforts. b.      They served faithfully and they were entrusted with more of the Master’s goods. c.       The servant lives off of the wealth they oversee. So, they were provided for by the gains of their serving the Lord. As they served the Lord faithfully, they had to provide for their own mouths with the money they made. d.      They were not rewarded based on results. They were rewarded based on their efforts. e.       Each received, each tried, each succeeded. f.        Can we imply that if we are working with God and His ability, he will cause us to succeed? III.              The Unfaithful Servant A.    He also is not his own. 1.      This guy also is bought and provided for by the Lord. a.       He is in the same boat as the other two servants. b.      The Master also knows his abilities and does not give him something he cannot handle. 2.      He was left to manage the Master’s business without supervision. a.       He did nothing with the opportunity the Master gave him. b.      How many of us are in his shoes, sometimes I wonder if I am walking in this man’s shoes. c.       He knew his master’s character well enough to make a decision about what to do. B.     His Rewards of Unfaithfulness 1.      He was not left empty handed. a.       He, like the other servants, had been given money to grow or further the Master’s wealth. b.      He was given 1 talent, which is estimated to be 96 pounds to 120 pounds of silver or gold. c.       A hundred pounds of silver or gold is still a lot of money, he knew he was going to be held responsible for what he had been given. d.      No one will give a hundred pounds of silver much less gold and not expect anything back. 2.      He was slothful. a.       What his reasons are for not doing anything we are not completely sure b.      He says he was scared and did not want to risk losing any money, is this an excuse or reason I cannot say. c.       He did not do what he thought the Master expected him to do. 3.      He was rewarded by his own judgement. a.       He called his master a hard man, one that would reap whatever was available and this seems to have scared him because he did not want to lose anything. b.      How many unbelievers are in his shoes? They say well if I become a Christian then I will be expected to fulfill Christian duties. So, they like this man hide their heads in the sand and do nothing with the opportunity of salvation. c.       The Master judged him by the unfaithful servant’s own standard. He said, “Well if you knew I would be a hard person why did you not even more do what you thought I expected? d.      Sent to the darkness were weeping and gnashing of teeth. e.       Weeping is the action of sorrow and gnashing of the teeth are symbols for enduring pain. IV.              How can we apply this to our lives? A.    Faithfulness is Required 1.      The Faithful Two a.       The two faithful servants seen the gifts given to them as a chance to please their Lord. b.      They knew the Master to be kind, giving, trusting, and forgiving. They were not worried about being punished for trying to help their master. c.       They had a proper idea of their Master’s character. d.      They were faithful in gaining the master’s wealth. They put forth the effort and received an increase for it. 2.      The Unfaithful Servant a.       The Unfaithful servant said, “O man what have I got myself into.” b.      He also seen this as an opportunity but a negative one. He seen himself being punished for having responsibility. c.       He had an improper view of his Master. He seen his master as mean, handing out heavy burdens, making his life hard, full of punishment. He did not understand our master rewards effort not success. 3.      We have to be faithful. a.       The two-faithful had knowledge of what would please the Lord and set out about doing it. b.      You and I have the Bible to read and study to know what God wants out of us. c.       They set out, they put forth the effort and their labors were rewarded. d.      If we step out in faith we also will be rewarded. There is a saying go out on the limb that is where the fruit is. e.       The unfaithful were scared to go out on the limb. f.        The unfaithful was busy minding his own business and not the business of the Lord. g.      We can get caught up in furthering our own wealth, position, or pride instead of pleasing God. B.     Faithfulness Rewarded 1.      It was the faithfulness that was rewarded and not the results. a.       If the servants were rewarded according to their results, then the ten-talent man would have received twice the reward of the 4-talent man. b.      Each of them was given the same reward. c.       It is clear that the Joy of your Lord refers to Heaven and not to anything else. 2.      The Unfaithful Servant Did Not Try a.       Had the unfaithful servant put forth effort he would have been rewarded just the same? b.      He was like so many today; he said the burden of serving the Master is too hard, I will just hide and hope that will be good enough. c.       How many people today think that being a Christian requires perfection? d.      I hope this idea does not scare many from becoming a Christian. Christians are not perfect only forgiven. If we put faith in humans, it will fall through. Someone once said it is human to error but divine to forgive. e.       When we become Christians, we are entering into a partnership with the Lord. He actually helps us in our time here. It could have been because of the Master’s wealth and name that the faithful servants were given the opportunities they were to increase his wealth. 3.      He that has more faithfulness will be given more faithfulness… a.       This is a hard saying; the idea is not results but effort or obedience to the truth…faithfulness. b.      If you are willing to try or put forth an effort, then you will be given more opportunity. c.       The man that had the most ability was given the talent from the one that would not use his. It was not because he would produce more, it was because the Master knew he would use it! d.      If we try and are faithful with no results, we still are successful in the eyes of our Lord. e.       We can plant, we can water, but it is God that gives us the increase. C.     Practical efforts 1.      The Interest of the Unfaithful Man a.       The Unfaithful man had other interests than trying to please the master. b.      The Master told him he should have put his money in with the moneychangers and received interest. The Jews could not charge interest to other Jews, but they could charge interest to gentiles. c.       If he did not have a great ability to turn gifts into a huge amount the least, he should do is what would be expected of any of us. 2.      What is the least expected of us? a.       Rom 12:1-2, “I beseech you brethren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service, and be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your body and mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” b.      Live our lives as a sacrifice. c.       Do not be conformed to this world- if you fit in with the world instead of with Christians then you need to re-evaluate your lifestyle. d.      Renewing your mind- Do not think like the world, try to think about things that are good. e.       By thinking on what is good, you will know what God considers acceptable, good and his perfect will for your life. 3.      What is our 1 talent? a.       Each of us can come to Church. It takes a minimum of effort to wake up in time for services. It would have taken a minimum of effort to put the Master’s money in the bank too. b.      Each of us can show our compassion for our fellow brethren and fellow mankind. c.       Mat 25:31-46 4.      Pitfalls to avoid. a.       Do not be upset because you are not an elder or have a high position. Most people want to serve God but only in an administrative capacity. b.      Do not be upset because you do not have great abilities. To those with great abilities more is expected, and besides most people are not converted with a great sermon or lesson but with the kindness or love that anyone can show. c.       Let us love others more than ourselves instead of being upset about what we can or cannot do. d.      Remember God does not pick the smartest people then makes them Christians. In other words, God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called.   Conclusion: 1.      Jesus illustrates this parable with the judgement scene… Matthew 25:31-46  But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:  32  and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;  33  and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  34  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  35  for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;  36  naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.  37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink?  38 And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?  39 And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.  41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:  42  for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;  43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.  44 Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?  45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me.  46 And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life. 2.      We all have abilities. Each of us can go to Church, and help feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, help a stranger and visit those in prison. All of us can do the minimum of showing love to our Lord. We each can please God. 3.      All of us will receive rewards for our efforts when we get to Heaven. We do not need to be like the unfaithful man who hid his gifts and did nothing. We all can do good wherever we are. You can make every situation better by being a person committed to love for the Lord. 4.      We are held responsible for our actions. Our Master will call each in account in Heaven.

  • Bring fruits worthy of repentance…

Bring forth fruits worthy of repentance… Sometimes words can cover so much and we receive so much mercy and forgiveness but what happens when words for forgiveness does not change our situation…we have to bring forth fruits worthy of repentance… sometimes God is like I hear what you're saying…but let me see… you mean what you say…before I do another thing… Matthew 3:7-8 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruit worth of repentance…many of the religious leaders of John the Baptist day had reputations of being blameless and yet he told them to bring forth fruits worthy of repentance deeds that God would accept… The minimum requirements for Jew were not breaking the 10 commandments… Jesus said the greatest of all commandments is to love God with all your heart with all your mind with all your soul and with all your strength and he said the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself… on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets…(Mark 12:29-31) Jesus said not to even offer a sacrifice until you made things right with your brother… can you look everybody in the eye…can you shake everybody's hand… if not go make corrections now… wait for the right opportunity ask for forgiveness at the right time… seek mercy… you're the one that done the wrong they're the better person that has to forgive you…(Mat 5:22-24). In the parable of the talents…Jesus tells a story about three men that were given a large sum of money Two of which traded and made more money for their master and were given more to be faithful with…one hid the money and was unfaithful and was thrown into the outer darkness…that which he had was taken and given to the faithful. Jesus illustrates the parable of the talents…with a judgement scene…he expected people to use money or talents to do His will… Matthew 25:31-46 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: 32 and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separated the sheep from the goats; 33 and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Have you feed the hungry…clothed the naked…took care of strangers…visited the sick…visited those in prison…gave drink to a thirsty man? These are worthy sacrificial deeds of repentance and mercy… Father, forgive and bless us for we are sinful men and women in need of deeds worthy of repentance and mercy so we can reconcile with You our Creator and Sustainer and receive mercy…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen. • Confession is good for your soul…

Confession is good for the soul…   James 5:16-17 Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man avails much in its working…in its working…a fervent earnest prayer from a righteous man can help heal a sinner…that mercy be shown…Jesus said first make things right with your brother or sister even if you just called them a name…listen to what Jesus said…   Matthew 5:22-24  but I say unto you, that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, (idiot) shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of the hell of fire.  23 If therefore You art offering your gift at the altar, and there remembers that your brother hath aught against you, 24 leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way, first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift…sacrifice.   Jesus said if you called someone a fool or idiot…then you need to make it right with them before you offer a sacrifice…God sees being right with your fellow man more valuable than your gold in your bank accounts…God sees being right with Him and His children as more valuable than an offering of sacrifice…obedience is better than sacrifice…   1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.   We are all just children in diapers before God…Jesus said we had to be converted like a little child or we will not enter into the kingdom of God…Jesus said we got to put Him first…so this means…we got to be daddy Jesus…can I? Daddy Jesus, may I? Daddy Jesus, I need a? Daddy Jesus, will you? Daddy Jesus look what they did to me? Jesus wants first place in your heart…Jesus wants to rule your heart not just be in it…with truth and right doing…righteousness.   Father, please help us confess and repent…we renounce anything unholy…please forgive all our sins…and help us make amends where needed with deeds of repentance, confession, and mercy…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

  • How repentance is created…

How repentance is created… Listen to what is written in the holy Bible given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit recorded for us to learn and grow from… For godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation…what is godly sorrow? is it sorry God I offended you? Is it sorry God I hurt your feelings…sorry God I made you cry…for godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation a repentance which brings no regret but the sorrow of the world works death. Some people sorry they got caught…other people sorry they did wrong because God was offended… Listen to what David the man after God's own heart has recorded about him sad… the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and contrite heart oh God you will not despise… David the man after God's own heart says if your heart is broke and humbled before God for what you've done and who you are this is an acceptable sacrifice… Listen to what Jesus said… blessed are the poor in spirit…those that say I cannot do it without you God… for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven... Blessed are those that mourn for they will be comforted…as in blessed are those that say I'm sorry God didn't mean to do you wrong… Blessed are the meek or the obedient for they shall inherit the earth…blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled… bless are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy…blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God… What does pure in heart mean…but to have pure intentions…to have no evil in your heart…to have no ill will towards your neighbor…but to have the purest intentions…to intend to do good will to others… what does blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy mean…if you forgive you'll be forgiven… what does hunger and thirst after righteousness mean…it means hunger and thirst after being right what God more than food… and you will be filled you will be made right with God…Father we offer you a corrupt heart that you may cleanse and recreate pure in Jesus of Nazareth name Amen.

  • It is not wrong to feel tempted…it is wrong to reach for forbidden fruit...

It is not wrong to feel tempted it is only wrong when we fall to our lust and we do the deed… Listen to what is written to Christians from the New Testament of Christ which is a new agreement between God and mankind that works salvation… …there has no temptation taken you but such as man can bear…if you are being tempted you can say no and walk away…but God is faithful he will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able… God will not let the tempter ask you or offer you anything that you cannot say no to…but with the temptation will also make a way of escape that you may be able to endure it…have you asked for the way of salvation? Or do you want more opportunities to sin? Listen to what James said through inspiration of the Holy Spirit…let no man say when he is tempted…I am tempted of God for God cannot be tempted with evil and God himself tempts no man but each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed or given opportunity then the lust when it has conceived bears sin and sin when it is full grown brings forth death…separation from God… Listen in the end of time some Christians will have to go through a test not from God that will require faithfulness through death…fear not those things which you are about to suffer behold the devil is about to cast some of you into prison that you may be tried and you shall have tribulation 10 days… be you faithful unto death and I will give you a crown of life… in John's revelation one church…one situation people are going to be thrown in jail and they're going to be threatened with their very own lives and have to be faithful to Jesus through death… each of us have decided to follow Jesus. If you're a Christian and I decided I'd take a bullet for Jesus many years ago and not much has changed although I don't want to die I'm willing to die if it is my day then it is my day… You cannot sit at the table of Jesus and the table of devils… you cannot receive from other sources... Jesus must be your only source your only supply you cannot commit idolatry… we are commanded to love God with all our heart mind soul spirit and strength even if it means it kills us… Father we renounce anything unholy and we ask we be not drawn away through our lust and remain faithful through death in Jesus of Nazareth name Amen.

  • God of gods...tear my idols down...

Introduction: 1.      In my life, I must say I never knew God. I must say my parents did not force me to learn about a Creator, a Savior, or a Sustainer. I was a typical product of America. I spent my youth learning how to make friends and play baseball, perhaps other sports as well. I learned how to fish, how to hunt, how to chase girls, and mostly how to desire for money and success. 2.      It seems from a child, I can remember being taught in America if you had enough money then you could do anything. I have had many friends, relatives, now co-workers, and others dream about becoming extremely successful and rich. If I had a million dollars, if I win the lottery, if I invent the next thing-a-ma-bob, if I could get on shark tank, If I could get on a singing show, etc… then I would not have a worry in the world. 3.      I have spent my entire life seeking after money, success, and all kinds of other idols. It seems that because most of knowledge, understanding, creativity, success, etc… do not include the What would Jesus do (WWJD)? We have lost the American dream by worshipping the idol success in the temple of money.     I.                    There is a God and no matter what you think He is what He is A.    It is God’s way or it is not the way (Our perception does not change reality) 1.      As a man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov 23:7) a.       Proverbs 23:6-7 KJV  Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:  (7)  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. 2.      Many cults, religions, and mystics have experiences a.       How many stories have been told of an experience they have had. What are the point of these stories? We do not need to tell of experiences, we need to tell the truth of God’s love. Jesus did not say what you will experience will set you free but He said “the truth will set you free” John 8:32 b.      Many people say they hear angels, God, dead people, and that a voice talks to them. God does not whisper in your ear or mind but has spoken through His word. It is up to us to remember His commands and do them. B.     Many today do not know God, either due to ignorance or obstinacies 1.      Do you care at what table you sit at? (1 Cor 10:21-22) a.       1 Corinthians 10:21-22 KJV  (21)  Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.  (22)  Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? b.      We need to be careful who and what we are receiving from. 2.      We are ignorant (Eph 4:17-19) a.       Ephesians 4:17-20 KJV  This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,  (18)  Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:   (19)  Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  (20)  But ye have not so learned Christ; b.      We can be like Jesus by obeying or we can be like our neighbor, which do you want? C.     Our minds, hearts, and children are becoming so darkened that God is giving up on us 1.      Many do not recognize God as God (Rom 1:20-25) a.       Romans 1:20-25 KJV  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  (21)  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  (22)  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,  (23)  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.  (24)  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:  (25)  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 2.      Many are calling their sin, God. (Rom 1:26-32) a.       Romans 1:26-32 KJV  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  (27)  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.  (28)  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  (29)  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,  (30)  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  (31)  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:  (32)  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. b.      How many people today are saying God made me this way, therefore it is God will that I change from a woman to man or a man to a woman, or to be homosexual. It is not God’s will for sin to control mankind. II.                 Each person here has a measure of faith to know God exists A.    Every Design had a Designer 1.      The watchmaker a.       Someone has given me an illustration of a watch b.      The idea is that for all of this world to happen by accident or mere chance is like me taking the parts of a pocket watch, putting them into a bag, shaking the bag and its contents up, then reaching my hand into the bag and pulling out a put together, complete and working pocket watch. c.       You and I both know you can not put the right parts in a bag shake it up and have a complete product. You see each part of a pocket watch has a design and a purpose. d.      Each gear, piece, bearings, and shafts all depend on the others for it proper working order. e.       The watch would never work unless an intelligent being put each piece in its proper place so that it would run correctly. f.        God is the watchmaker g.      God is the one who put each part of this universe together h.      He is the source of all things. i.        He is the intelligent being that put everything in its place. 2.      No one can please God unless they understand who He is (Heb 11:6) a.       Romans 12:3 KJV  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. b.      Hebrews 11:6 KJV  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. B.     God is Faithful to keep His word 1.      What is the New Testament or Covenant? a.       It is Jesus Will for us to obey. It is the agreement between God and man if they want to be saved. God says I will perform all of these things (promises and rewards) and we say we will obey and follow Jesus. 2.      Are we keeping our agreement with the Creator? Our Savior? C.     God never gives a command we cannot perform 1.      How do you love God? (John 14:15) (1 John 5:2-3) a.       John 14:15 KJV  If ye love me, keep my commandments. b.      1 John 5:2-3 KJV  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.  (3)  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 2.      What will we be judged by? (John 12:47-48) a.       John 12:46-48 KJV  I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.  (47)  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.  (48)  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. III.              How do we know God’s Will? A.    Knowledge of God’s Written Word 1.      Study God’s word (2 Tim 3:16-17) a.       2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  (17)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2.      Properly applying God’s word (2 Tim 2:15) a.       2 Timothy 2:15 KJV  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. B.     What happens when we refuse to obey God’s commandments? 1.      Listen to some scripture found in Jerimiah a.       Jer_13:10  This evil people, which refuse to hear my words , which walk in the imagination of their heart , and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. b.      Jer_23:22  But if they had stood in my counsel , and had caused my people to hear my words , then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. c.       Jer_6:19  Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. 2.      If we “love” God Then we must do what He has commanded a.       If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (John 15:10 KJV) b.      2 John 1:6 KJV  And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. c.       2 John 1:9 KJV  Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. C.     God will not give us commands we cannot obey 1.      God’s commandments help us when we obey (1 John 5:2-3)(Mic 2:7) a.       Micah 2:7 KJV  O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? 2.      Look at the reward when we obey (Rev 22:14) a.       Revelation 22:14 KJV  Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. IV.              Each one of us can do the simplest things to serve God and not ourselves A.    Look at this parable of the talents (Mathew 25:14-30) 1.      We all have talents 2.      2 used their talents and more was given. 1 Did not and his was taken away. B.     Look what is included after it (Mathew 25:31-46) 1.      You may say what talents do I have? 2.      Listen to what the Lord said after His lesson on talents: a.       Matthew 25:31-46 KJV  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:  (32)  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:  (33)  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  (34)  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  (35)  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  (36)  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.  (37)  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?  (38)  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?  (39)  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  (40)  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  (41)  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:  (42)  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:  (43)  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.  (44)  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?  (45)  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.  (46)  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. b.      There is not a human here that does not eat, that does not drink, that does not understand when a person has hit bad times and has no clothes, that does not understand what being sick means, and that does not understand when someone is put into prison. We all can reach out and provide the needed things for anyone. Just a side note: in roman prisons they did not feed you, someone had to provide you with food or you died. c.       We all have these talents. Have you used yours lately? Conclusion: 1.      Mark 12:29-31 KJV  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:  (30)  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  (31)  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 2.      Are you keeping the commandments of God? God asks, are you learning my words? Jesus said “Matthew 11:28-30 KJV Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  (29)  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” 3.      Jesus also said “John 10:9-11 KJV I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  (10)  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  (11) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” 4.      Perhaps you were following Jesus and forsook your Lord like I did, remember this scripture “Hebrews 13:5 KJV let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” 5.       God’s says in 2 Peter 3:9 KJV  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Father we renounce anything unholy and ask you would grant us repentance and mercy in Jesus of Nazareth's name amen.

  • Do you know judge Jesus…

Do you know judge Jesus… …listen to what is written of him in the New Testament of Christ which is the new agreement between God and mankind… One only is the lawgiver and judge even he who is able to save and to destroy but who are you the judge your neighbor…that in the name of Jesus…every knee should bow of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father…though he…Jesus was a son yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered and having been made perfect he became unto all them that obey him…the author of eternal salvation…we must all be made known or manifest before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he had done whether it be good or bad… Jesus of Nazareth died on the cross and was raised from the dead three days later so that you would never have to choose a wrong thing again so that you would never be overcome by evil and so that you could do all the good that you could think of… have you heard the good news that Jesus died and was raised from the dead so you never have to choose a wrong or evil thing again? Yes or no? Jesus died so that you could be forgiven and so you never have to choose the wrong thing again…Jesus says whoever hungers and thirst after being right with God…right with Him…Jesus…his ways will be your soul’s fill…You want to know how to live your life right…ask Jesus he'll show you how…but you have to practice truth and righteousness…you have to obey the truth and do what's right… Salvation requires obedience…Jesus is the author of salvation to all those that obey him not to all those that believe. Some have the knowledge that he died on the cross and was raised…such as satan…satan himself knows Jesus died and was raised from the dead but does not obey him. Knowledge does not save you obedience to the truth saves you… Jesus said he that believes and is baptized will be saved he that does not believe or chooses to disobey the good news…one who rejects the message they never have to choose a wrong thing again…we'll be damned. These they do not obey Jesus will burn in hell forever in the hottest fires ever created…Forever…being destroyed with eternal destruction. In the hottest fires never consume forever being destroyed… Do you believe Jesus of Nazareth died on the cross and was raised from the dead three days later yes or no? Will you be baptized in the Christ? Yes or no? Have you ever been baptized in the Christ before…yes or no? Do you still believe in your salvation? Yes or no…or do you still believe in your baptism yes or no? Romans 10:9-11 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: 10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame. Romans 6:1-11 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein? 3 Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection; 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; 7 for he that hath died is justified from sin. 8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him; 9 knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him. 10 For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus. Pray with me? • Apply the laws of God with the mercy of God in good faith…

Apply the laws of God with the mercy of God in good faith… Jesus talking to the religious leaders of his day said as it is written warning until you scribes those that made copies the law and Pharisees those that really preached the law, you pay tithe 10% of mint and anise and cummin and have admitted the weightier matters of the law… judgment, mercy, faith, these thoughts you have done and not to leave the other undone… How many of you know every law in your state? How many would like to be warned before they're punished… these Pharisees were warned these scribes were warned. They were told they were worried about how much money they give instead of treating people right. How many of you ever been like I don't know I don't want to hear his opinion on the matter he always would send me to hell? We are to be about God's law about what is judgment would be about showing mercy instead of punishment about warning people…I mean God warns us before he punishes us right shouldn't we do at least the same… Jesus said blessed are the merciful when they shall obtain mercy if you're in a position of judgment you better show mercy or you will have no mercy… Jesus said blessed are those that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they will be filled… do you really want what's right with God or are you just trying to make a paycheck? Pray with me Father we pray that You would help us to apply the law of You with the mercy of You that we might have proper judgment and that we might be merciful that we might be shown mercy in Jesus of Nazareth name Amen
