You ever realized Jesus was also tempted on the cross as He was after His baptism…listen…

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and sets him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and shews him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaves him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. Mat 4:1-11 KJV

And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comes into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luk 23:36-43 KJV

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abides forever. 1Jn 2:15-17 KJV

Jesus was tempted as we all are tempted…with the lust of the flesh…lust of the eyes (desire pleasing to the eyes)…and the pride of life…as if there is a self-made man.

When tempted after his baptism…the devil pulled all three of these elements into all three attempts at drawing the Only Son of God away from His Father. Let us use the first temptation in the series of three as an example. Make these stones become bread…the power displayed to God’s enemy…the satisfaction of eating bread…the sight of the astonished fallen created angel…yet Jesus remained faithful and did sin…Jesus on the cross also was tempted…with the lust of the flesh…lust of the eyes…and the pride of life. When the thief railed if you be Christ then save yourself and us…lust of the flesh…no longer suffocating...lust of the eyes…eyes seeing freedom and people glorifying God…pride of life or (self)…proving I am God…yet remained faithful to His plan and purpose to become the author of salvation to all those who will obey Him.

For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved…Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him…But this man, because He continues ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them. For such an High Priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needs not daily, as those (past) high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this He did once, when He offered up Himself.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Joh 3:16-17 Heb 5:8-9 Heb 7:24-27 Heb 4:12-16).

Father please forgive us and strengthen us against the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life or self…please meet our soul’s deepest needs and heal our flesh mind soul and spirit that we may prosper and be in health as our souls prosper by being reconciled to You…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.
