Who does the religious training fall upon in the house, for kids, according to Jesus and His New Agreement called the New Testament of Christ?
It is written: Ephesians 6:4 And fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
The command to the Christians in Ephesus, was for the males, dads to bring the children up the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Nurture defined is the training up of a child, the correcting, instructing, in the way of salvation
Admonition is defined as a putting in mind, or encouragement from Jesus through the dad's training.
As for not provoking unto wrath, I look at it this way, it is supposed to be a blessing to follow God and not an overbearing burden. True instruction, promises a light and easy yoke (Mat 11:28-30), and a man who does not work neither should he eat (2 Thes 3:10). We as dads have to have a balance of instructing and applying God’s word to every situation, that is encountered while raising a Christian. As Jesus said we have to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves, or we have to be prepared with the saving message from Jesus, and patiently wait for the right opportunity to strike with the message of salvation and reconciliation with God. Always, having the way of salvation expressed for his kids to follow and prepare for heaven our goal.
We must consider our own selves, for Jesus said, unless you are converted like little children you cannot enter into the kingdom of God (Mat 18:3). We have to remember we too, are just children in dirty diapers calling on God our Father to instruct us, to guide us, to guard us, train us how to be like our Father in Heaven. We must be like daddy can I? Daddy may I? Or look daddy what they did to me? When we keep the proper prospective, of we are God’s child, raising another to become a Christian, then we indeed can see the needs of our children. For we teach what Christ teaches us as His children.
Also, if you become a Christian, and are the first Christian in your family consisting of husband, wife, and children; then your children are also sanctified as it is written:
1 Corinthians 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; else your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
God cleans also your children; a man should not have to fight the devil in his own house. We, Christians are called to live in peace with unbelievers but without corrupting the heart of Christ. If you have a marriage between a believer and unbeliever, the Christian cannot endanger their souls for the unbeliever, they cannot pay for their sins, only Jesus can. As a Christian, they can pray and set a godly example, by doing so they will usually convert their spouse, if it be God’s will.
So then the man’s duty is to instruct the children on how to behave in Heaven by example, by instruction, by reproof, and by correction, with the main goal of getting them prepared for Heaven not Harvard.
Father, we pray you would prepare us for Heaven, and help us to raise our children in the care and encouragement of Christ your only fathered Son, in Jesus of Nazareth's name amen.
