How to read the Bible…as in a part for the whole…

Have you heard the instance Jesus was arrested…and Peter cut off the right ear…of the servant of the high priest…and his name was Malchus?

In order for us to discern the details of what Peter did…one must read the knowledge found in all four of the Gospels of Christ. No one record contains all the information needed for every detail mentioned above, but each record contains enough truth for us to draw a conclusion of understanding…Peter was willing to fight the entire Roman nation and the office of the high priest to defend Jesus and was told to put up his sword.

Some critics say this proves there is no unity in the New Testament of Christ…yet fail to realize it is the Holy Spirit revealing the knowledge needed for salvation not for our pleasure…each book is inspired or God breathed…each person was used to reveal with inspiration of the Holy Spirit…each person recites the events as revealed or remembered (eye witnesses) by the Holy Spirit.

For instance if you and I were in a field and watching and we seen a tree fall. Would we use the exact same words…to describe the tree’s fall?

No. I may be a better story teller and you may be like simple saying yes…lightening hit it and it fell…or perhaps I may want to describe the heat I felt from the lightening or the brightness because my eyes were open and yours shut…or the sound of the thunder…you see these details have to transmitted to others…but does not change the only true fact intended by this exercise…a tree fell in a field and me and you were there…here is what happened. Each of us or each faithful witness revealed a little more detail than what was needed to understand the main point…a tree fell in a field…

Back to the instance of Jesus in the garden…here are the scriptures needed to get the whole revelation revealed by the Holy Spirit…

1.      Who was the victim of being struck?

2.      What was cut off?

3.      Which ear of the servant of the high priest?

4.      Which one of the ones standing by cut off his ear?

5.      What was the high priest servant’s name?

Who was the victim of being struck? What was cut off?

Mat 26:51 KJV  And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

Mar 14:47 KJV  And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

Which ear of the servant of the high priest?

Luk 22:50 KJV  And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

What was the high priest servant’s name? Who cut off his ear?

Joh 18:10-11 KJV  Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.  11  Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

So then we can answer these question after reviewing the Holy Inspired Record of the instance…from all the inspired accounts and draw one conclusion…

Who was smote…a servant of the high priest

Which ear was cut off…his right ear

Whose ear got cut off…a servant of the high priest

Whose ear got cut off…Malchus

Who was the one swinging the sword…Peter

We could not answer all these questions unless we understand and remember all the knowledge of the truth on the matter…we have to read the New Testament as one document…with one understanding…with one purpose…which was revealed in pieces over time until all the knowledge need for salvation to occur was revealed…the New Testament has One Author and is inspired of the Holy Spirit…Holy reliable Truth…one message to all creation…written by many people inspired of God to inform sinners of salvation…

2Pe 3:9-10 KJV  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Father please help us to remember the Truth from Jesus according to the promise… 2Jn 1:2 KJV  For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And He said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute. Act 22:8 KJV

Jesus said…

Joh 14:1 KJV  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me… Joh 3:16-17 KJV  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved…Heb 5:8-9 KJV  Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;  9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him…

Luk 9:22-26 KJV  Saying, The Son of man (Jesus) must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.  23  And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.  24  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.  25  For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?  26  For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels…

Joh 8:31-32 KJV  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;  32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…

It is written in the New Agreement between God and Creation called the New Testament of Christ…

2Jn 1:9 KJV  Whosoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son… Joh 14:15 KJV  If ye love me, keep my commandments…Mar 12:29-31 KJV  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:  30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these…

Mar 16:14-20 KJV  Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.  15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.  19  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.  20  And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Acts 22:8)…was born of a virgin named Mary…lived under the minimum standard of the God of Abraham…Isaac…Jacob…or the nation of Israel…being the Ten Commandments…Jesus being born into the tribe of Judah…had to only never break one of the Ten Commandments to be called Holy and sinless…and He never did break one of the Ten Commandments…then laid down His life as a substitute for your evil deeds or sin and for my sin…Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead to prove to you Jesus can forgive all the evil you have ever done…and Jesus will reveal the truth to you so you can never choose a wrong thing again…sound like good news?

Jesus died and was raised from the dead so you could never choose a wrong or evil deed again…Jesus will forgive you of your past…so you can be reconciled to God the Great I am…Jesus said He that believes and is baptized will be saved…have you ever been baptized because of Jesus? Yes or no…Will you be baptized in order to obey Jesus and be saved? Yes or no?

Father please remove anything or anyone from hindering us from obeying the truth and remaining free to serve You, please meet our souls deepest needs…our spirit’s deepest needs…and our flesh’s deepest needs…so we may understand Your will…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.

Sin Leaves Scars…

Hebrews 6:1-6 KJV  Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,  (2)  Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.  (3)  And this will we do, if God permit…(4) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,  (5)  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,  (6)  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

All of us have known or heard of people that were Christians that have decided to serve sin rather than God. When people reach a condition like that then it is totally up to them to decide to come back to God. We can try by saying and showing love for their souls but nothing we can do can make them return to God.

You know all of us have sinned and our sin is like a little girl who once had a bad temper. Her mother gave her a bag of nails and told her that every time she lost her temper, she had to hammer a nail into the back of the fence. By the end of the first day the girl had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as she learned to control her anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. It did not take her long to discover it was easier to hold her temper than to drive nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the girl didn't lose her temper at all. She told her mother about it and the mother suggested that the girl now pull out one nail for each day that she was able to hold her temper. The days passed and the young girl was finally able to tell her mother that all the nails were gone. The mother took her daughter by the hand and led her to the fence. She said, "You have done well, my daughter, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one." You can put a knife in a person and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say 'I'm sorry', the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. You and I wound God emotional when we sin.

Have you ever thought that our sin makes God cry? This thought changed my whole walk with God years ago. I realized that God because we are made in His image has the same emotions that you and I have. When someone does me wrong or betrays me it hurts my feelings and when we do something wrong it hurts God and His feelings.

In this story the girl sinned by losing her temper, and those fits of anger put holes in the fence and the scars in the fence will always be there. You and I put nails into the hands and feet of Jesus each time we sin against Him. We are truly blessed to have a Savior willing to suffer for us so we can be forgiven of those sins. Will you make Jesus your savior today? Yes or no…Jesus said… Mar 16:16 KJV  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned…Do you believe Jesus Christ died on the cross and raose from the dead…Yes or no? Will you be baptized to obey the Author of Salvation…Jesus Christ? Yes or no… Heb 5:8-9 KJV  Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;  9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Father please heal our sin scars in ourselves and others…in Jesus of Nazareth’s name amen.
